Try out these 3 ways of exercise to reduce your calf soreness after shopping.
Our calf muscle is made up of two muscles called the Gastrocnemius and the Soleus. They could get overworked after prolonged walking activities such as shopping or jogging.
Poor calf flexibility may lead to knee and ankle pain, shin splints, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, and even back issues as it would affect your distribution of weight on your foot.
1. Heel drop exercise
- Drop your heels towards the ground
- Hold for 10s, return to neutral position
- Repeat for 10 times
2. Calf stretching exercise
- Place your toes against the wall; while keeping your heel on the floor
- Hold for 10s, relax
- Repeat for 10 times
3. Calf muscles release
- Place the bulk of your calf muscle on a foam roller
- Place one leg above the other
- Roll right and left for 1 min
