Categories of 4 Major Dysfunctions Causing GERD
Gastro Esophageal Valve / Sphincter Dysfunction
Acid reflux happens when the stomach acid travelled up towards the throat. It also happens when the gastro esophageal sphincter fails, and stomach acid regurgitates into the esophagus. Visceral manipulation helps the gastro- esophageal sphincter to regain its normal function.
Stress / Anxiety
Stress and anxiety may stimulate the stomach to secrete more acid than usual.
Stress and anxiety also will trigger the abdominal cramp which will create discomfort of the stomach, difficulty in breathing and loss of appetite.
Visceral manipulation helps to relax the muscle cramp in the stomach, abdominals, thus restore the normal tension of the stomach. In most cases, by solving the stomach issue, stress, anxiety, and panic attack may be resolved.
Malposition of the Stomach
Trauma, vomiting, stress, heavy lifting, or some adverse events may initiate shifting of the stomach position and causing stomach to lose its mobility. This may cause the stomach to lose it capacity and most of the time will get irritated and produce more acid.
Visceral manipulation will help in repositioning the stomach and restore the functions of the stomach.
Bacterial Infection: Helicobacter Pylori
Bacterial infection may initiate the stomach to produce more acid. In this case, patient may need to take antibiotic to clear the bacterial. Visceral manipulation is needed to calm down the stomach which had been injured by the bacterial. We will help to ease the discomfort and tension resulted by the injury.
