Most of the hemiparetic stroke survivors will compensate their gait by shifting weight to non-paretic side. This involuntary compensation strategy will increase weakness and stiffness of paretic side. To break this pattern, lower limbs strengthening is crucial to promotes a good functional movement.

 

Squatting exercise is one of the weights bearing exercise that promotes equal weight bearing on both legs, strengthen lower limb muscles, improves proprioception and coordination.

 The video attached demonstrates some variation of squat exercises.
