What is Cervical Spondylosis?

Cervical means neck region
Spondylosis means a condition in which there is abnormal wear and tear on the cartilage and bones of the spine

Cervical spondylosis is the degenerative changes that affect the components around the cervical spine, which is the neck region.

It is a natural process of aging, which causes the wear and tear of cartilage, discs and bones in the neck region. However, repetitive stress, traumas, injuries or poor posture may influence the condition as well.

    • Heat Therapy: Improves blood flow and reduces stiffness
    • Cold Therapy: Controls inflammation
    • Electrotherapy: TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) for pain relief

2. Exercise Therapy

    • Stretching Exercises: Gentle stretches to improve flexibility and range of motion
    • Strengthening Exercises: Exercises like chin tucks to target deep cervical flexors, and exercises for shoulder, and upper back to enhance stability and support

3. Manual Therapy

    • Techniques like soft tissue mobilization, joint mobilization, and trigger point release help relieve tension and improve neck function

4. Postural Education

    • Education on ergonomic adjustments and training to maintain proper alignment during daily activities, to reduce undue stress on the cervical spine
